Tomb-sweeping Day,also known as QingMing Festival,is a statutory public day in mainland china, which is held once a year.It commonly falls on April 4th.On this day, people would usually climb hills and mountains near their homes in order to remember their ancestors who died many years ago. Unfortunately, there is much rain in this time every year, that would bring too much trouble to people who go climbing and sweep tombs.people use to sweep away the dirt on the graves and lay several bowls of dish in front of the tomb stones, also burning incense, that is considered to pay respect to their ancestors. In my hometown, people are always tearing some branches off pine trees after having swept the tombs of their deceased realtives. As soon as they return their homes, they would insert these tree branches in their front doors, which represent good lucks for them .Nowadays, many Chinese, especially young people, show their respects to the dead in the new ways, such as planting trees or placing flowers in front of tombs.
